Charlize “Charlie” Nakatsu

Ph.D. Student

Charlie is a PhD student in the Neuroscience Program studying differences in neuroplasticity on recovery in traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Charlie’s research focuses on the effects of neural reorganization and the influence of sexually dimorphic neuroanatomy utilizing the translational pig model to evaluate recovery from traumatic brain injury. Charlie graduated with a BSA in Biological Science and a minor in Biology from the University of Georgia in May of 2023.

When Charlie is away from the lab, she can be found enjoying Athens with her friends or back in her hometown of Greenville, SC spending time with her family.
