Madison “Maddie” Walsh

M.S. Student

Maddie is a graduate student in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science researching countercoup traumatic brain injury (TBI) .

Her MS degree focuses on the effects of contrecoup TBI on neuron, astrocyte and oligodendrocyte damage and survival and inflammatory microglial activation. Moreover, her work focuses on the potential of endogenous neural stem cells to promote recovery in these injured regions.

Maddie graduated with a BSA in Applied Biotechnology from the University of Georgia in May of 2023 and is planning on attending Veterinary School at UGA after obtaining her Master’s degree.

When she is not focusing on her research, she enjoys spending her time outside with her dog, going out on the boat, and riding horses.
