Maria Levy

Ph.D. Student

Maria is a PhD student in the Regenerative Bioscience Program studying the effects of mesenchymal stem cell extracellular vesicles (MSC EVs) on traumatic brain injury recovery.

Maria’s research focuses on how primed mesenchymal stem cell extracellular vesicles (MSC EVs) modulates and mitigates the inflammatory immune response in traumatic brain injury (TBI) leading to improved recovery outcomes. MSC EVs deliver neuroprotective and regenerative microRNAs, proteins, mitochondria, and other bioactive molecules that prevent TBI brain damage and promote tissue recovery. Maria graduated with a BSA in Regenerative Bioscience with a minor in French from the University of Georgia in May of 2023.

When not studying or doing research, she enjoys reading and playing the guitar.
